Mike Tompkins

Happy Saturday to me!
A restful and fun Saturday.

I woke up at around 10am.
9 hours of sleep.

Did some emails til 11am.
Eat brunch and off to the gym.

Took a bath and off to Parkson.
Bought a lovely denim-ish coat and a luggage.

Dinner at Pho24.
Stir-fried noodles.

And someone sent me this link.
Very kyoot!

This is Mike Tompkins.
His music is purely his voice.

Yeah, I've heard a lot of acapella songs.
But this is different.
This is a complete accompaniment, violins, cymbals, base 1, base 2, name it!
Plus his facial expressions.
Very good!

And that made my day.
Bow.

21men

What drives me?

Seeing myself being transformed by God each day. :)

Saigon by Night

I attended the small group today.
And one good thing happened.
A team from Victory Alabang came and will be staying here for two weeks!
Kabayan!!!
Thanks to my Pilipinas-printed polo, they recognized me as Filipino.
The team was lead by Pastor King. He was with seven more Pinoys - 2 girls (Tin and Dang) and 5 pinoys (Jerome, AJ, Red, Edrei and i-forgot-the-other-one's-name).
Anyway, i will miss the single's retreat because i will be in Cambodia that weekend.
So, poor me.

After our small group, I took a walk going home.

Very majestic Ho CHi Minh City Hall

Park along Nguyễn Huệ
Here, images of some important happenings in Vietnam are displayed.

The center for performing arts.

Very Paris

Đồng khởi at night
Ze post officè

Lê Duẩn
Very hard to cross!

Despite the chismis that there are no malls in Vietnam, here is one of them.
Malls here in HCMC are nice and sushal.

At last! Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai my love!

Philippians3:7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in[a] Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.

Bún Chã

This is where i stay

Superboy and the Invisible Girl

Before leaving the Philippines, I got the chance of seeing this play.
Yeah, I know it's a heavy drama.
And yet, i was not able to control my emotions.
Good thing they gave a free KLEENEX tissue at the start.

Very good storyline.
Very engaging acts and music pieces.
Very good actors and actresses.
Kudos to the one who played the mother!

Now Playing: Superboy and the Invisible Girl

Bánh mì

This is my dinner tonight.
Vietnamese baguette

bánh mì

This is a cheap one i bought beside the street near my house.
10,000 VND = 20PHP
Of course there is a mas sushal version (which was my snack this afternoon).

What i did is to point to a cheese like slab in the stall which unknowingly is a slab of pork fat.
That made my bánh mì, a thịt lợn (pork) bánh mì.

(1) bread, like the french one, it's chewy!
(2) Vietnamese Chili, so hot!
(3) the slab of pork fat!
(4) kikiam-ish thing
(5) cilantro, kinchay, celery, wateva leaves are those
(6) chili sauce
(7) ground pork
(8) newspaper wrapper

Multiply

It's getting better!

I'm getting used to it. I'm getting used to Vietnamese living!

Sorry.
Fastfood.
Burger Bulgogi from Lotteria.
But look at the layers of greens.
It must be healthy!

Happy Birthday Rona, my friend! :)

The Tambays of mười tám A (18A).
4 floors below my room, there is a fruit stand.
They serve fruit shakes and juices in the morning.
Heineken, Tiger and Saigon at night.
This is a usual scene at 9pm.

Đồng Khởi Street.
I must explore you one of these days.
OK?

municipio.
I have to see you at night. :)

L'opera.
I have to see your play.
With subtitles?

cathedral.
You are so big and grand.
But not so Vietnamese.

The very useful Google Maps.
Bow.
I love you!

Every Nation Vietnam.
A second family for me.
Very nice people.
Nice meeting you Pastor Jonas.

Earlier, i had my first small group! a perfect group for me.

There is Paul. He introduced me to Vietnamese Pancake (Banh Xeo)! Very yummy! It's a healthy version of Pinoy's Empanada.

There is Lanh (i hope i spell it correctly), the youngest. He will begin his university schooling next month!

There is Tanh from hanoi. He is fascinated about girlfriends. And he plays badminton!

There is Hinh (another spelling unsure) who wants job stability.

And of course Pastor Mike.

And i need to START immersing myself more to the Vietnamese culture!

the Shwedagon

Just decided to go back into blogging and instead of creating another one, why not just revive this old blog of mine?

Anyhooms, i was in Myanmar last week and i got to visit the Shwedagon Pagoda. The Shwedagon Pagoda, located in the centre of Myanmar's capital city, Yangon, is a huge tower made of gold. This is the most sacred Buddhist Pagoda for Myanmar Buddhist because of the relics enshrined within it.

Expectation:

Reality:

pointed (golden) roofs

minitowers

intricate details and details of the design

a buddhist offering

monks
